#1: Define your priorities
People spend a lot of their time doing things that are not too important for them, resulting in less time for things that do matter. Think about what is important to you in your life, and prioritize your schedule accordingly.
#2: Say "No"
Sometimes you have to say no to things that demand too much of your time or effort, even if it is something you would like to do. Practice being assertive and refuse taking on tasks that do not match with your priorities.
#3: Stay in the moment
When you are working, put your full attention to the work; when you are relaxing, focus all of your attention to how good it feels to relax. Pay attention to your energy levels throughout the day - when are they at peak, when are you feeling down - and as much as you can, schedule your days around those rhythms.
#4: Write a plan.
Take two calendars and two notebooks to plan everything out. Put your long-term goals and major tasks in a small notebook to keep at your side. Then, take the first calendar and write in it all your long-term commitments and tasks and include the due dates. In your second calendar, write in your daily, weekly and monthly tasks and activities. Use a spiral-bound notebook to write in your daily tasks. Take some time at the end of each day to write in your tasks for the next day. This will allow you to clear your mind and focus your energy on things that are more important to you.
